Demand still strong for paper calendars and planners

A digital calendar might be as common as email, but many will be ushering in the new year with the purchase of paper calendars and planners. 

NPD Group found that sales of hard-copy appointment books and planners have jumped 10% from 2014-2015 to 2015-2016, reaching US$342.7 million, The New York Times reported Dec. 29. Meanwhile, decorative and other calendars rose by 8% to $65 million over the same time period. Print calendars also remain popular promotional items for businesses such as real estate, medicine and car repair, while studies have found that 82% of recipients like receiving calendars as gifts and 70% intend to do business with those who give away calendars.
