Some twenty years back, print had no opponent today it has several, among which INTERNET has turned out to be the most persistent and challenging one.
The paper-based communication is rapidly getting lost; the postage, stationary and envelopes have been left behind by email, the books and publishing has taken shape of PDF files, the inter-office communication is now replaced with various office automation applications, magazines and advertising have been swapped by e-books .long run printing has now become on demand.
In the past, printer used to possess the entire printing job. Today anyone can own the job of publishing without having to print. With the world becoming digital, anyone can have access to masses through commenting on a Face book page, writing a post on a blog, taking and publishing a video using smart phones, or starting a news forum. Publishing has gone into the hands of every TOM DICK and HARRY!

Printers need to develop strategies to get back the print that is fast getting lost. This is only possible through innovative one-stop solutions and automated workflows. The printers have to really respond rapidly to the market by focusing on clients and not on mere products that they offer. Also, personalization is a big part of printings future and one-on-one marketing alias VDP is where printers can effectively meet customers needs.
Can the print industry face the challenges posed by the DOTCOM world or has the Internet ink already smudged the grey printing world?
