The Paper and Paperboard Packaging Environmental Council (PPEC) has joined Two Sides North America, the non-profit organization that promotes and encourages the responsible production, use, and sustainability of print, paper and packaging.
“We welcome PPEC to our Two Sides network. Their expertise will be of great value given that we are now addressing sustainability topics related to paper-based packaging,” said Phil Riebel, Two Sides North America President.
“While packaging has specific environmental issues that it faces,” said John Mullinder, Executive Director of PPEC, “we have a lot in common with other sectors of the broader paper industry. By contributing to and participating with Two Sides, I think we will both benefit by developing a credible sustainability message for paper-based packaging.”
About the Paper and Paperboard Packaging Environmental Council (PPEC)
PPEC represents over 90% of the Canadian paper packaging industry on environmental issues. The council was founded by four separate sectors of the industry (packaging mills and converters) back in 1990, allowing them to work together and speak with one voice rather than several. Its Board of Directors is representative of the four different sectors and the council operates on a consensus basis. PPEC lobbies governments; networks with other industry players; co-ordinates action industry-wide; develops practical solutions; and promotes the environmental performance and achievements of the industry as a whole.
