TD Bank, which calls itself "America's Most Convenient Bank," has taken the lead on two fronts to reinforce its efforts to support sustainable initiatives. The new areas of focus include urban forestry, forest conservation and community development as a part of the bank's "TD Forests" program.
TD Bank has made a multi-year pledge of $1.5 million to the New York Restoration Project (NYRP) in its effort to support MillionTreesNYC program. This tree planting program is a crucial component of PlanNYC 2030, the city's sustainability initiative. Support from TD Bank will help the program achieve its goal of planting and caring for one million trees across the five boroughs of New York by 2015.
Furthermore, TD Bank, along with NYRP and Alliance for Community Trees (ACTrees), will launch its third annual TD Tree Days event. As a part of the event, employees of the bank will plant more than 1,600 trees in 18 locations from Maine to Florida. The event is a part of TD Forests, an initiative by the bank that aims to reduce paper usage and preserve and protect critical forest habitats. TD Tree Days promotes growth of urban forests in local communities.
TD Bank is one of the 10 largest banks in the United States, providing nearly 8 million customers with a complete range of retail, small business and commercial banking products and services.
